GRANDMA'SHOME REMEDIES

1. SORE THROAT

Drink a glass of warm water to which 1/2 tsp. haldi powder and a pinch of salt has been added.

Boil half a cup of water with 3-4 crushed cloves, 2 tsp. sugar and 5 drops ghee.  Cool and   drink the mixture for a welcome relief.


Take 1 level teaspoonful haldi powder and roast in a dry vessel on a very slow fire till the   color changes a bit. Add milk and heat, and sugar SOS.


Take 2 cloves of garlic crushed, add 1/2 tsp sugar and put in dry vessel till it is well browned. Add milk, boil and drink.

2. ACIDITY & INDIGESTION
100 gms. suva seeds
1 level tsp. haldi powder
1 level tsp. salt (if no high blood pressure)
Mix above together and keep overnight.  Next morning gently roast on a tava till well done. Cool and bottle. Use 1/2 tsp. and chew well when required.
Celery seeds can be taken for indigestion.
Cumin seeds  cure a lot of stomach  disorders like  indigestion, flatulence, dyspepsia and diarrhoea.

3. ARTHRITIS
Garlic greatly recommended for arthritis and rheumatism.
Cut thin slices of a washed but unpeeled potato and place the slices overnight in a large glass of cold water. Drink the water every morning on an empty stomach for one of the most successful treatments of arthritis.

4. DIABETES
Soak a teaspoonful of methi seeds in a glass of water overnight. Drink the water and bite the seeds on an empty stomach the next morning.

5. TUMMY ACHE

Aniseed in combination with other digestives like cumin, ginger & pepper help expel gas.
Rice gruel is good for acute gastritis - I cup twice a day to induce increased flow of gastric juices.

6. CONSTIPATION
Drink a glass of warm water to which 1/2 tsp. haldi powder and a pinch of salt has been added, early in the morning.
Eat plenty of vegetables.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. This does not include beverages like tea, coffee, milk etc.

7.HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

Eat 2 flakes of garlic early morning.
Eat Indian gooseberry.

8. ANAEMIA
1.   Beetroot
2.   Jaggery & dates
3.   Red meats
4.   Spinach..
5.   Celery juice with carrot.
6.   Fenugreek seeds

9. SKIN

Neem is antiseptic by nature and excellent to cure all kinds of skin disorders as a poultice.

10. LOW BLOQD PRESSURE

Raw beet juice
Avoid Red meats

11. GENERAL
1. If somebody cuts himself and there is no antiseptic around, just apply a bit of turmeric on the wound after washing it thoroughly with water.

2. Eating four tablespoons of plain curds helps prevent and cure mouth ulcer. The friendly bacteria present in curds fight off the mouth bacteria that causes mouth ulcer. So be sure that you follow this curd cure!
